Sanne Sannes (Dutch 1937 - 1967) Untitled, 1959-1967 gelatin silver print with the artist's copyright stamp and inventory number 'SAS-20545' (on the reverse) 27.1 x 34.1 cm.
Condition: Edges slightly worn, minor handling creases, a few superficial hairline scratches with cosmetic retouchings, overall in good original condition.
Notes: Considered one of the most important Dutch photographers of the 20th century, Sanne Sannes produced a rich and innovative body of work from 1957 until his untimely death in 1967. Photographs of Sanne Sannes with their open eroticism and call for freedom speak the language of the revolutionary 1960s. Sanne Sannes was not afraid to choose provocative subjects and experiment with photographic techniques. Unfortunately, his future was crashed by his tragical death at the age of 30 years only. This photograph contains everything Sannes is praised for: a powerful intimacy captured as in a film snapshot, executed with great light-dark contrasts and a high granularity.
