Condition: Canvas slack, surface grime in places, fine craquelure and a soft scratch in the upper left, otherwise in good condition. Framed.

Notes: Jan Altink was one of the most versatile painters of Dutch Expressionism and a co-founder of the Groningen-based artist group De Ploeg, for which he also coined the name. The painter also worked in France, Northern Italy and Switzerland. Altink evolved from a naturalistic style to a more expressionist palette, influenced in part by fellow artist Jan Wiegers.
